The theme text for Camp COMMIT! 2010:

Before You Meet
Prince Charming
By: Sarah Mally

How can young people be committed to purity and to God's best? This guide to radiant purity combines the story of a young princess with solid, clear teaching of Biblical convictions that young ladies today need to grasp. Through a captivating fairy tale, modern day examples, practical instruction, and abundant humor, Sarah Mally challenges young ladies to turn to the Lord for fulfillment, to guard their hearts and minds, to identify and avoid the world's thinking, and to shine brightly in this generation. This book offers Biblical answers to every day questions and deep life struggles.

2” of ¼” elastic

Bandana Headband

CRAFTING TIME: 45 minutes

MATERIALS:

  • 25mm plastic headband(no teeth)
  • Bandana(color of choice)
  • 12 in. × 1/8 in. satin ribbon(to coordinate with bandana)
  • Scissors
  • Pinking shears
  • Low temp. glue gun & glue sticks
  • Ruler

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut a 12 ½ inch × 2 ½ in. strip and glue strip to headband. Glue overlapping ends of fabric to inside ends of headband. Fold one long fabric edge toward inside of headband and glue along edge. Trim near edge tapering at the ends. Fold remaining edge and glue inside of headband trimming excess fabric.

Use pinking shears to cut one 12 ½ inch × 2 ½ in. strip from opposite side of bandana. Gather at center and secure together with ribbon. Tie ribbon into a bow. Glue gathered fabric to headband as desired.

Scrunchies

MATERIALS:

  • 7 in. elastic band
  • 1 by 40 in. fabric square
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Safety pin

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut out a piece of fabric 40 inches long and 1 in. wide. Fold it in half lengthwise and stitch the top edge closed so you end up with a rectangle piece that’s 40 inches long and ½ inches wide. Leave the ends of the rectangle open.

Cut a 7 in. section of elastic. Fasten a safety pin through one end of the elastic and use it to thread the elastic through the rectangle you made in step1. The safety pin gives you something to hold on to as you string the elastic through the material.

Scrunch the fabric away from both ends of the elastic. Then stitch the elastic closed into a full circle.

Tuck the ends of the fabric inside of each end so it can work with a clean edge. Stitch the scrunchy shut directly across the elastic band.

Distribute the fabric evenly around the elastic band to shape your hair scrunchy. Trim away any threads from your sewing and fluff your scrunchy.
