Camp Staff

Thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing God's love to so brilliantly shine through your examples of selflessness and love!  The girls appreciate you very, very much ... and so do we!

WENDY - Co-Director - I am a wife, mother, keeper of the home, and homeschool mom.  I enjoy staying at home with my four little girls, teaching the oldest to read.  I live north of Charlottesville , Virginia (where I also grew up), and I worship with the saints at Rugby Avenue church of Christ.  My family often joins saints seeding the church in Stanardsville.  Friday nights are devoted to Bible studies with the church at Rivanna River.  I teach Bible class on Wednesday nights and prepare dinner for Friday night Bible studies.  I love reading, being with kids, serving God and my family, taking pictures, and crafting.

CHRISTA - Co-Director - Life Lessons - "Modesty - More than Meets the Eye" - I'm the mother of my children!  That pretty much defines this season of my life.  I love being the mom of a big, busy bunch of kids.  I have 3 boys and 3 girls, ages 6 to 21.  I'm homeschooling the youngest three now, as the oldest three have finished their highschool at home and moved on to further education.  We have enjoyed living in Virginia for 6 years now, but still miss our friends in all the other places we've been blessed to live & visit.  I don't have any "spare time hobbies" because I don't have any spare time right now, but if I did, I would read, work on remodeling our house, and visit with deaf people to improve my sign language skills. I am very excited about the opportunity "Camp COMMIT!" gives me to share my experiences about the blessings of being a fulltime mother and helpmeet.

JEANNE - Chief Cook, Bottle Washer, and Water Safety - Married to Ken for 26 years, two children (Carolyn 14 & Jared 16), all are Christians. I stayed at home with my children untill they were both in school before I started to work ... only when they were in school (I am still using it as an excuse not to go to work!). I enjoy bad puns and weird humor.  I like to sew and bake (esp. desserts!!!!).  And couponing is a major hobby.  Helping with Camp COMMIT! is sure to enrich my life and my daughter's life (besides I love to make a mess in Wendy's kitchen!!!).  I also have lots of spare time and a high energy level ... and so it is I have committed myself to this blessed endeavor.

TAMMY - Crafts & Activities - I am married and have 2 girls, ages 13 and16. I am a native of Pensacola, Florida, where I lived most of my life, before moving to Fredericksburg, VA, 7 years ago.  I am a 5th Grade Teacher Assistant at Fredericksburg Christian School.  I attend Fredericksburg church of Christ, where I teach Sunday school, Children's Bible Hour, and Wednesday evening Bible class, as well as being involved in Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes and the Homeless Ministry.  Some things I enjoy doing are spending time with my family, sewing, reading, and playing volleyball.

DENISE - Staff Childcare and VBS - I was married 3 years ago to Scott, a wonderful Christian husband.  What is important to me is ministering and spreading the word of God.  I enjoy helping people in any way I can.  I was baptized in Winchester, Virginia, 6 years ago.  I moved to Fredericksburg last year and attend Spotsylvania church of Christ.

NINA - Recreation - I have a wonderful husband, who just retired from the Navy and I am a mother to 6 blessings.  I love to spend time with my family and my church.  I homeschool my three youngest, and my three oldest have graduated my homeschool and our continuing their education.  I love to spend time outside and have done a physical education class with my children and other homeschool families in the past.  I currently have a hair business in the home.  I also spend a lot of time at church supporting my husband and teaching kids bible classes.  I am hoping to teach an adult bible class soon, on how to teach your daughters.

IVENE - Life Lessons - "Commit to Your Future - Count the Cost" - I am mother to my teenage son Ronnie (13) and Baby Girl (9) Nia.  I have been married to my perfect mate for 18 years.  We have lived in Virginia for almost 10 years.  Ron was raised in the church of Christ since he was little.  I was raised in a Catholic home where male role models were not present.  I became a Christian after marring Ron.  I have worked all my life for as long as I can remember.  I currently work as a Police Desk Sergeant at Fort AP Hill.  I served for four years as a Military Police and served during Desert Storm.  We waited till we both got out of the service to have our two babies.  I am involved in the Lads to Leaders program at the Spotsylvania Church of Christ and spend my Sundays at the church.  I absolutely love spending time with my children and husband. We enjoy outdoor activities (fishing, four-wheeling, etc.) and doing crafts with our kids.

ALLISON - Allison, 23, is the daughter of Steve and Carol of McMinnville, TN.  A resident of Henderson, TN, Allison is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in New Testament at Freed-Hardeman University while working as an associate librarian in Jackson, TN.  As a college freshman, Allison contributed to Girl to Girl, a Bible study book for teenage girls.  Allison enjoys foreign mission work and has participated in campaigns to Barbados and to Russia.  In her (imaginary) spare time, she enjoys music, theatre, reading, and ice-skating.  Allison is happiest when translating Greek or Hebrew, preferably in the sunshine, when in deep conversation over coffee or tea, or when looking at the stars.

YVETTE - Evening Devotions - I have been married for 22 years to my husband, Larry, a full-time evangelist.  We have 3 children: Stephen - 19, Nathan – 17, and Emily - 12.   I have been teaching Bible classes since becoming a Christian in my early teen years.  I love teaching children of all ages, and I continue to learn from each experience.  I look forward to the opportunity to work with these sweet girls at Camp COMMIT!

MKIYAH - Etiquette and Home Decorating classes - I have been married for 7 years to a wonderful husband who is currently on his second tour of duty in Iraq.  I have two young boys.  I work part time and take classes to further my work in the medical field.  I enjoy home decorating projects, and I am teaching my family Spanish.  I love to help with the girls at church and I have worked with the Venture kids at church.
