Camp COMMIT! (Christian Mothers & Maidens Inspired by Titus!), is a very unique and much-needed camp for our young ladies (ages 12-19), created in love by ladies from no less than five central Virginia church of Christ congregations.  As many will attest from last year, this is no ordinary summer camp.  Our sole focus is to teach young ladies the value of adhering to the Creator's design and desire for their lives.  Our vision, That They May Know Virtue, emanates from Paul’s letter to Titus.  Our over-arching purpose for the week is two-fold:

  1. Further inspire, encourage, and equip young ladies who have chosen to commit their life fully to God as helpmeets for leaders of the Lord's church in America and abroad
  2. To grow in faith, affirm their gifts, support one another in their callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote moral goodness in the church, in our society, and in the world

Mark your calendars!  The camp, located north of Charlottesville, Virginia, in a rural setting just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is scheduled for June 19-26.  This year’s theme is “Commit to God and Purity.”  Our scripture focus for the week is Philippians 4:8.

There is much to do and learn at Camp COMMIT!  Among other things, you will be involved with a number of hands-on classes (e.g., baking, gardening, crafts, and natural beauty tips) and several opportunities for community service.

VERY IMPORTANT:  Only 40 campers will be accepted for this year’s camp.  If you and your parents are interested in your attending (and you have no other commitments the week of June 19-26), please let us know; we very happily will reserve one of the 40 places for you and make certain to keep you up to date on everything we are doing to make this a very special and memorable camp.

Please “Commit!” as soon as practical by sending in your application; we expect the camp will fill quickly, so remember: first come, first served!

Want to invite a friend?  Great!  Download another application from the website or send us her name and address; we’ll be happy to send her a personal invitation and application, too!  We look forward to hearing from you very soon!  Moms are encouraged to attend and help with camp; please contact me if interested.  Please make sure your email address is accurate for confirmation of camp attendance.

Don’t forget: check the website—and the blog!—often for updates.

In His service,

Wendy King, Camp Co-Director

IF

(for girls)

If you can hear the whispering about you
And never yield to deal in whispers, too;
If you can bravely smile when loved ones doubt you
And never doubt, in turn, what loved ones do;
If you can keep a sweet and gentle spirit
In spite of fame or fortune, rank or place,
And though you win your goal or only near it,
Can win with poise or lose with equal grace;

If you can meet with Unbelief, believing,
And hallow in your heart, a simple creed,
If you can meet Deception, undeceiving,
And learn to look to God for all you need;
If you can be what girls should be to mothers:
Chums in joy and comrades in distress,
And be unto others as you'd have the others
Be unto you — no more, and yet no less;

If you can keep within your heart the power
To say that firm, unconquerable "No,"
If you can brave a present shadowed hour
Rather than yield to build a future woe;
If you can love, yet not let loving master,
But keep yourself within your own self's clasp,
And not let Dreaming lead you to disaster
Nor Pity's fascination loose your grasp;

If you can lock your heart on confidences
Nor ever needlessly in turn confide;
If you can put behind you all pretenses
Of mock humility or foolish pride;
If you can keep the simple, homely virtue
Of walking right with God — then have no fear
That anything in all the world can hurt you —
And — which is more — you'll be a Woman, dear
